A variety of sources. When you get hold of the schematic, you are
free to speculate about parts and assembly costs. But we've decided
not to talk about it. It's not that we wouldn't LIKE to discuss it,
but there are people who don't grasp the economics of manufacturing
and think that raw parts costs are all there is to it. We just don't
want to open that can of worms.
Just keep this in mind: This project is VERY important to me. While
OGD1 is interesting, what I REALLY want is OGC, just like everyone
else does. So while I may not be willing to tell you exactly how much
profit we make (assuming we can even accurately calculate it), not a
penny of that profit will be squandered on anything inappropriate.
While it may legally be Traversal's profit, ethically, it's OGP's
future, and I'm probably going to be excessively careful with it.
More than likely, our ability to sell these boards is going to be
direcly proportional to the pro bono marketing efforts of OGP
volunteers. We owe it to them to make appropriate use of the money
that comes from their efforts.
