Its not that hard.. Just a little practice and the right ammount of
flux.  Having a knife tip vs a round tip helps considerably.

Now these new "leadless" parts that are BGAs waanabees,  those are a
bitch.  Even our techs say they are hard.

For BGA rework though you have to use a rework station.   BGA's
actually solder up really nice.  The surface tension self centers the
part.  The cricital part is a nice clean screen of the solder paste.
