[Open-graphics] GPU architecture resources (I need some)

Hi

I'm an undergrad at IIT Delhi, India. For my final year project I
intend to work on designing (or optimizing for power/heat)
architecture for a modern graphics processor (preferably the core).
The bad thing is that there isn't much literature available in the
public domain that makes a thorough deal of it.

I've been searching for a long time now. Does anyone have (or can
someone point me to) some helpful resources? I'm conversant with a
broad level architecture and various modern graphics algorithms, and
have a good base on digital design.

I'll probably need answers to the following:
- how is a vertex/pixel shader pipeline implemented (what are the
specifications etc)
- what are the performance/power bottlenecks in a graphics hardware pipeline?
- what are the various interfaces (eg. for the memory) like?
- any ideas that address certain specific issues with graphics processors?
- anything similar someone did somewhere?

I'll appreciate any help.

Thanks a million, and sorry for an irrelevant mail
