It's a matter of availability.  First to market corners often the
market due to their not being an alternative there to fill the market
need.  But this doesn't hold forever.  Note how TiVo is being eaten
away by inferior but cheaper products.  Individual consumers are
generally intelligent, but as a group, they seem to act like lemmings.
