Since emailing the Fest team about the speech, I have been promptly
contacted by the chair of the selection committee. He politely
explained that there were just too many submissions and why they were
unable to include us. He also apologized for the lack of
communication and mentioned that they are looking into why some
submitters have not received notifications that were sent.
There is a TBD on their schedule, and the chair mentioned that things
can change between now and the time of the Fest, but I'm not going to
keep my hopes up. With two long days of Ph.D. qualifier exam coming
up very shortly, I'm going to reprioritize and drop the speech
entirely from my to-do list. I'll revisit the idea the next time a
similar opportunity arises.
We were hoping to show a prototype OGD1 there. It would have been a
great splash. Online announcements and articles will have to suffice.
