[Open-graphics] gtkwave broken... alternative?

I've been using gtkwave for some time now, but I've just recently
switched to using Ubuntu (Dapper Drake), and gtkwave available from
their repositories seem to be broken. I can't get any signal names,
so I can't view any waveforms, and I think it might have something to
do with these error messages:

(gtkwave:6101): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_text_width: assertion `font != NULL' failed

(gtkwave:6101): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_text_width: assertion `font != NULL' failed

(gtkwave:6101): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_text_width: assertion `font != NULL' failed

Anyhow, I'm stuck, unable to view waveforms, and I was wondering if
anyone had a suggestion of an alternative. Or better still, help with
fixing whatever's wrong with this.
