Maybe it's not exactly what you want, but may useful to understand how a 
modern graphics card works:

ATTILA: A Cycle-Level Execution-Driven Simulator for Modern GPU 
Architectures [1]

The simulator is amazing: it really renders the frame by replaying 
opengl trace from real game (eg.: Doom3) The simulator source code is 
also downloadable (with BSD license).
