I think the word you're looking for is "reflexive".

Egad.  A reflexive form of 'think', and one of those adverbs that
doesn't translate.

How much pain would we cause if we were to try to construct a calque
or something simpler that violates the usual grammar rules?  Or change
the meaning a bit.  Instead of trying to say "imagine", how about
"think"?  "Denken an Freiheit!"  Or "Denken Freiheit!"    We don't
want to change the meaning TOO much.

Is there perhaps a familiar Plattdeutsch that we can leverage that
people will understand?  Obviously, the advantage of using
gramatically correct Hochdeutsch is that more people will know what
you mean.  :)

Ach.  Mein deutsch ist sehr schlecht.  Dabei ist mein französisch
schechter.  Watashi-wa nihongo-ga wakaranai.  :)
