We have a timeline of closer to 6 months.

Don't laugh.

Among other things, the reasons involve the fact that the community 
isn't going to sit around waiting for this project to get finished.  I 
HATE vaporware, and so does everyone else.

The point is that we need to come up with a design that is a viable 
product that is doable in that short time period.

(If the schedule slips a bit, it won't kill us.)
